Description
April 2 (Thursday) at 5:00 PM KVARTIRNIK Yakovlev Jadran Concert Home Sutomore, Brca Friends! I'd like to perform for you the program I'm bringing to the Hamburg Laeiszhalle in the next few days: 🎹 Bach/Rachmaninov - Suite from the Violin Partita in E major 🎹 Brahms - Fantasies, Op. 116 🎹 Ravel - Gaspard d'Night In the meantime, read what Tchaikovsky wrote about the greatest representative of the Romantic era, the great thinker and melodist Brahms: "He is one of those mediocre composers with whom the German school is so rich; he writes smoothly, deftly, purely, but without the slightest glimmer of original talent... a talentless man, full of pretensions, devoid of creativity." His music is not warmed by true feeling, it lacks poetry, but it does have a tremendous claim to depth... He has very little melodic inventiveness; the musical idea is never fully expressed... It angers me that this presumptuous mediocrity is recognized as a genius... Brahms, as a musical personality, is simply repulsive to me." Or a Times magazine correspondent about one of the most fantastic composers of the 20th century, Ravel, in 1924: "Listening to a whole program of Ravel's works is like spending an entire evening watching a dwarf or pygmy perform curious but very modest tricks within a very limited range. The almost serpentine composure of this music, which Ravel seems to cultivate deliberately, can only evoke disgust in large quantities; even its beauty resembles the iridescent scales of a lizard or snake." You have a unique opportunity to come and see for yourself 😊 Any criticism is powerless compared to the composer's great thought.
