Cattaro kvartet
Description
On Monday, March 2, 2026, starting at 8 p.m. in the Chamber Hall of the Music Center of Montenegro, the string quartet "Cattaro" will perform. The concert titled "Scandinavian Evening", dedicated to the masterpieces of Northern European classical music, will present to chamber music lovers the masterpieces of two of the most important Scandinavian composers: Carl Nielsen - "String Quartet No. 4 in F major", op. 44 and Edvard Grieg - "String Quartet No. 1 in G minor", op. 27. 🎻 The quartet consists of prominent artists and members of the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra: Marija Đuranović (violin), Milana Bjelobaba Gagović (violin), Mirjana Jovanović (viola) and former member of the orchestra - Dmitri Prokofiev (cello). "String Quartet No. 4 in F major" represents the pinnacle of Nielsen's work in the field of chamber music. Written in 1906, the quartet exudes cheerfulness, maturity and masterful technique. Unlike his earlier, more romantic works, the Fourth Quartet is neoclassical and full of optimism. Although Nilsen is Danish, his music in this work does not sound "cold" northern, but warm and vital, reflecting his love for nature. 🎶 "String Quartet No. 1 in G Minor" is one of the most important works in the entire string quartet literature. Written in 1877 in the Norwegian mountains, it changed the way composers write for this ensemble. In this composition, Grieg strove for a rich expression reminiscent of a symphony, so this composition brings a dramatic, powerful and almost orchestral sound imbued with elements of Norwegian folklore. 📍MCCG Chamber Hall 🗓 Monday, 02. 03. 2026. ⏰️ 8pm 🎫 Tickets can be purchased at the box office on weekdays from 9 am to 3 pm or via the website www.muzickicentar.com 📞 For information and reservations, call 068 004 900.
