KotorArt Don Branko's Music Days on August 12th at the Church of the Holy Spirit will host one of the most authentic pianists of today – Gabriela Montero. Known worldwide for her virtuosity, expressive musicality and exceptional talent for improvisation, Montero regularly delights audiences and critics on the most prestigious stages such as Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Berlin Philharmonic. Born in Venezuela, Gabriela Montero continued her musical education in London, where she graduated from the Royal Academy of Music. During her career, she has collaborated with the world's leading orchestras and conductors, including the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. As a composer, Gabriela Montero has written works such as Ex Patria and Latin Concerto, which have received international recognition. For her artistic and social engagement, she has been awarded the Beethoven Prize for Human Rights and the Václav Havel Prize for Creative Dissent awarded by the Oslo Freedom Forum. Montero also performed at Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009, and her work is characterized by a combination of classical music and strong social messages. Since 2024, she has been working as an artist in residence and piano professor at the prestigious Cleveland Institute of Music. The International KotorArt Festival is being held for the 24th time, from July 13 to August 13, under the patronage of UNESCO, the Ministry of Culture and Media and the Municipality of Kotor, with the support of the European Union, the gold sponsor Coca-Cola, then significant sponsors Luštica Bay, Porto Montenegro, Erste Bank, Montenegro Sotheby's Realty, Uniqe and many other significant sponsors and a wide network of partners from the country and abroad.
