On the Summer Stage of the “Vladimir Popović Španac” Cultural Center, on Tuesday, August 19, starting at 9:30 PM, the official festival program of the “Barski ljetopis” will be officially closed with a concert titled “Disco Opera” performed by the Big Band Novi Sad. After a notable performance with the “Rock Opera” project, this renowned orchestra brings the audience a new musical journey through the most famous themes of disco music from the seventies and eighties, in arrangements adapted to a large revue ensemble. The program consists of songs by some of the most recognizable performers from that period – Abba, Boney M, Bee Gees, Earth Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Donna Summer, Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones, Wild Cherry – with rich instrumentation and vocal arrangements, in the spirit of contemporary symphonic expression. The orchestra is conducted by Fedor Vrtačnik, and the soloists are: Bojana Stamenov Nevena Reljin Zoran Šandorov vocal quartet "Disco Sisters" Gabor Bunford (tenor saxophone) Ivan Blanuša (alto saxophone) The "Disco Opera" concert brings a blend of nostalgia and contemporary sound, intended for a wide audience and fans of disco rhythm.
