A unique blend of Balkan rhythms, jazz, funk and contemporary improvised music is coming to the “Barski ljetopis”! Vasil Hadžimanov Band, one of the most respected jazz bands from this region and beyond, will perform on August 14th at the Summer Stage of the “Vladimir Popović Španac” Cultural Center, as part of the festival’s music program. Led by pianist and composer Vasil Hadžimanov, this virtuoso band has been pushing the boundaries of musical expression for more than two decades – combining the rich heritage of the Balkans with the most exciting elements of the world jazz scene. Their energy, freedom of expression and technical perfection delight audiences across Europe, Japan and the United States. Performances with greats such as Joe Zawinul, David Binney and Nigel Kennedy, appearances at festivals from EXPO Japan to Jazzy Colors Paris, as well as multiple award-winning albums such as “Alive” and “Lines in Sand”, have positioned the VH Band at the very top of the European jazz scene. The concert in Bar will be an opportunity for the audience to hear a cross-section of their work to date, along with new arrangements and improvisations for which they are known.
