Alexander Stark—multi-instrumentalist, improviser, inventor and creator of unique musical instruments, founder and visionary of the medieval music group Flos Florum and the futuristic project Stellarium Mystery—will present a solo program of Philip Glass's "12 Etudes." For this project, the musician abandoned the modern piano and created his own hammer-action keyboard instrument—a Renaissance clavizimbalum of his own design. "In recent years, I've become increasingly interested in playing music on my clavizimbalum that extends far beyond the eras for which it was created. "Minimalism, with its contemplation and love of pure harmonies, blended incredibly organically with the Renaissance spirit of my pianoforte," says Alexander.
