Lovro Pogorelić, or Pogorelich (b. 1970), is a Croatian classical pianist, a younger brother of [a833794]. In addition to extensively performing since 1987, Lovro teaches piano at the [l823542] and directs his [i]PagArtFestival[/i] (founded in 1999). Pogorelich received initial lessons from his father, Ivan, a classically trained musician who played double bass in [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/2426756]Yugoslav National Army Symphony Orchestra[/url]. In 1982, twelve-year-old Lovro Pogorelić began studying with his principal tutor, [a3256773]. Three years later, the young pianist appeared as a soloist for the first time, performing Robert Schumann's [i]Piano Concerto[/i] with [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/2871983]Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra[/url]. Lovro Pogorelić performed all over Europe and internationally, in addition to most Croatian cities. Some of the prominent concert halls where he appeared include [l768094] and [l904226] in France, UK's [l513859] at [l281326], Italian [l1086539], [l348559] in Denmark, [l382105] in Sweden, [l281835] in Bulgaria, [l333702] and [l333336] in Japan, [l731129] and [l2216965] in Russia, and [l520557]'s [l436085] in the United States. In 1993, Lovro Pogorelić relocated to Paris under a grant from Fondation D'Enterprise Crédit National. The pianist toured extensively across the country during his French tenure and released his [url=https://www.discogs.com/release/21157513]debut CD album[/url] on [a2115434]'s audiophile label [l=Lyrinx], featuring Mussorgsky's [i]Pictures at an Exhibition[/i] and Prokofiev's [i]Piano Sonata No. 7[/i]. In 1998, Pogorelich recorded one of the [url=https://www.discogs.com/release/21158074]earliest DVD-Audio[/url] albums for [l=Denon] in the "DENON Ambience" series, appearing as a soloist with Danish [a1858050]. (The release had 5.1 and stereo tracks and was audio-only; however, it still came with a [i]DVD-Video[/i] logo on the front cover, marketed before the DVD Consortium had finalized formal technical specifications for [b]DVD-Audio[/b] format). In 2006, Lovro released a [url=https://www.discogs.com/release/15044056]CD of Franz Liszt's piano works[/url] on the French label Intrada; [l1283320] filmed and aired a documentary on the recording of this album. The artist released his second CD for Intrada two years later, featuring Moussorgsky's [i]Pictures[/i] and preludes by Rachmaninoff.
